Welcome to Argosy University
Argosy University has earned the distinction of supporting one of the largest graduate student communities in the nation. Argosy University is built on a nation-wide system of locations found throughout America. At Argosy University, students enjoy a collegial, supportive academic environment that emphasizes teaching and practical training.
The history of Argosy University began with the combination of three schools with three distinct areas of educational focus. Our roots can be traced to the American Schools of Professional Psychology, the Medical Institute of Minnesota and the University of Sarasota. The combination of these three schools created Argosy University, an academic institution that serves the needs of adult students in four academic programs areas: education, business, health sciences and psychology.
Argosy University offers online programs that use similar curriculum taught at our Phoenix campus. The major advantage of taking classes online is that you are in control; you decide when you want to take your classes – day or night – at home or in a coffee shop – anywhere you connect to the Internet. It's up to you. You will take classes online in our interactive, user-friendly classroom and learn from seasoned faculty members who provide personalized attention in a small class setting. Throughout your matriculation, we will support you with a student advisor, faculty mentor, career services, and an online campus community enabling you to connect with your global peers.
Coursework at Argosy University emphasizes interpersonal skills alongside academic learning, and many programs are available in flexible learning formats — such as evening and weekend classes and online courses — that work within your busy schedule. We also provide a variety of student services to help support your academic, career, and personal needs.
College of Counseling, Psychology and Social Sciences
Interested in enhancing your career as a mental health professional? Argosy University's College of Counseling, Psychology and Social Sciences offers programs designed for those interested in various mental health professions. Some programs can prepare graduates to sit for licensure as psychologists, counselors or therapists. Argosy University does not guarantee third-party certification/licensure. Outside agencies control the requirements for taking and passing certification/licensing exams and are subject to change without notice to Argosy University. Other programs can prepare individuals to work in fields that apply psychology, like corrections, addictions, sports/exercise, or religious institutions, hospitals, and clinics. All of our programs focus on preparing practitioners who are grounded in the fundamentals of sound behavioral science and able to use and apply clinical and scientific research and scholarship. We value ethical practice that is sensitive to issues of diversity and multiculturalism. Personal development is central to the professional training and development of mental health professionals. This belief is critical to our curriculum, our off-site experiences, and our faculty. You can learn through example, active participation, and the expectations of our faculty mentors.
